Muan Red Clay Tideland Festival

June every year

The Muan Red Clay Tideland Festival is held to activate the local economy using the primitive ecology of Muan Red Clay Tideland, the first protected tideland area in Korea, and to utilize the rich life of the tideland  as a cultural product. The Muan Red Clay Tideland Festival presents a variety of performances, experience events, and other exciting events every year.

Since the Muan Tideland preserves the primitive properties of the natural ecosystem and a clean environment, it receives a great amount of geologic conversation, enabling the observation, creation, and extinction of a tideland. It is also widely recognized by its shape and diversity of organism living there, and it was designated and inscribed as the first wetland protection area in Korea in 2001 and RAMSAR Wetland (No. 1732) and a provincial tideland park in 2008.

■ Events : Good harvest flat parade, opening performance to celebrate, song contest with citizens

■ Experience Events : Catching octopus and eel in red clay tideland, catching sand crabs, fishing mud hopper, red clay mud bath.
